Beyond Academics by Engineer's Cradle Mobile App Design
Engineering Students
Worked as an intern in the company. Did much of User Research, IA, onboarding wireframes and solely did the user profile wireframes and high fidelity screens.

Overview
The project that I am using as a case study its about a Mobile App design for the company named as Engineer's Cradle and the program is known as Beyond Academics.
I was one of the six interns who was given the charge of doing User Research, Builiding Information Architecture for the app, User flow, Wireframes, Low-fidelity Screens , High Fidelity screens and Prototyping.
Motive of the program is to provide an educational as well as activity based app that will help engineering students to reach their goals. Company provided me a brochure about the program which helped me pointing out the problem statement.
Problem Statement
We now about our Indian parents who wants their children either to be a Doctor or an Engineer from which Engineering is something most of the parents choose. After that when the students get admission in Engineering colleges they don't get their preferred branch, which leads to major issues. If the colleges are tier 3 colleges then many problems arrises like less opportuniteies, zero community supports, less competitions and many more. Now-a-days If the students want to learn something new other than their own domain is also slightly difficult and time managment is also an issue. Reaching to good mentors, getting their advice in particular field, domain is also challenging.
Initial Solution
The required solution that our company wanted us that to design an mobile app by which engineering students can be beneficiary in terms of education, interests, community build, opportunities, mentor help.

After a small meeting we decided to build an app that will help the students to follow their interests without hampering their domain. To know more about and build an app that is user centric we did process like User Research thats consists of User persona, Empathy mapping, User journey mapping, user task flow then IA & user flow, Wireframes & Low-fidility screens, Gamification process.

User Research
User Persona
User persona was the first step towards user research, to get to know about the problem more and get some required insights. Goals, motivations, pain points we included mainly.. For that I choosed Meghna as User persona..

Empathy Mapping
Meghna helped us to build a empathy mapping for getting some important points like what she says, thinks, does, feels and how she is connected to the problem.

User Task flow
After taking some important points from Meghna like see wants to try something new beyond her domain i.e Data Anlytics and also need job, internship opportunities, i have made a initial task flow which will help us how the app will work.

Competitive Analysis
User research helped us to understand the problem deeply and got some important insights.
Including required points, pain points, approach towards this app idea , all of these made the way of doing a competitive analysis report like to find who is our main competitors.
Idea is to find who were our main competitors, their user flow, their pain points, unique things they are providing, how they are approaching users, making business, etc.

IA & User flow
Working on different iterations, going well through personas, empathy, competitive analysis combined here is IA and userflow for the app.

Some points which were basic and will help user's problem were Onboarding, Payment Screen, required courses, community & clubs, opportunities, profile.
Our research helped us to find some unique points like we can add Feed & Gamification(points, level, ranking) which will make the app different from our competitiors.
It will not only help to be unique but also increase user engagement.

Onboarding
Here the user will get to know about app, then get started to login which is a mobile number OTP system for faster login. Also the user selects a college after that, if not found in the database he/ she will be replied as soon as possible and the college would be included.
Then the user have to select a domain and does a payment.
After the payment is successfully completed the user will enter to the personal settings and choose career road map screen because to get filter out interests, courses in the main page(home page).
After setting up the profile, choosing a career roadmap the user will enter to the mainpage(home page)
Mainpage(Homepage)
From the choosen career roadmap the user will see courses according to that. The user can check course details, mentors available for that course, video class, links, can choose prefered class time, recorded classes will be available, doubt clearing section, one to one mentorship help, Jobs & Internship assistance for that course if availabe will all be clearly mentioned in the course.

Mainpage will also have clubs(community) section where the user can choose and be a part of that. Discussions, ideas, projects, competitions, hackathons and many more the user can choose and get started.
Opportunities section for Job & Internship avaibility.
Feed section will help the user to be updated and will able to see Big Organisations involvement, their activity, posts. User(students) can only react to that but for now cant be a part of Feed like Create Feed making it different from LinkedIn(Our another competitor).

User profile at last which will have personal settings, Gamification(points, level & ranking), bookmarks, assignments, certificates, notification settings & legal policies
Gamification

I was one who proposed the idea of adding the Gamification(including points, level & rankings). Like the user will gain points after completing courses, quizzes, competitions, profile update, etc.

The main reason for adding gamification is to keep user engaging, competitive, a surrounding where the users will learn and also gain points. More the level more the advantages the user will enjoy.
Iterations
The above wireframes are just some basics, but we have done numerous iterations, went through user flow again & again, used to conduct brainstorming meetings, took inspirations from our competitiors, also took help from dribbble, etc. So that the app will fulfill the needs of users.
I would have displayed all the things that I have done but due to Company's rule and regulation I couldn't.
What did I learn?
As it is my internship project it gave me a good experience of working in a team. This project helped me to strengthen my User Research abilities including persona making, empathy mapping, competitve analysis report.
Previously I was a dribbbler but these 3 months and this project helped me to realise that making screens only is not enough but you have keep things in mind like business, iterations, gather brainstorming ideas among colleagues, be updated what's your main competitiors are upto, new user demands and many more.
This app will be Live from January 2023 and I am very happy to be a part of this program.
